Smart security has reached an inflection point. For years, home and commercial surveillance centered on passive observation—recording endless hours of static video footage to be reviewed only after an incident had already occurred. As cloud subscriptions escalate and privacy regulations tighten, the demand has rapidly shifted toward active deterrence, completely off-grid operation, and intelligent, on-device search capabilities.

Reporting from Berlin during IFA 2026, Smart Home Tested examined the expansive showcase from Dahua Technology and its consumer-focused brand WITHS at booth H1.2-173. Moving away from artificial intelligence as a flashy marketing novelty, Dahua demonstrated how AI serves as a practical, foundational layer uniting four core security elements: WITHS providing the eyes, AirShield acting as the ears, WizTalk serving as the voice, and an integrated AI layer operating as the central brain.

WITHS: Off-Grid Freedom, Dual-Lens Indoor Tracking & On-Device AI

Taking center stage for residential, agricultural, and perimeter protection, Dahua’s consumer-facing brand WITHS ("Simple. Smart. Secure.") introduced standalone hardware designed to operate without reliance on mains electricity or local Wi-Fi networks.

1. Apollo BP6X-4G & BP6Z-4G: True Off-Grid Surveillance

Engineered for remote holiday properties, farm outbuildings, and construction sites, the Apollo series removes infrastructure bottlenecks entirely:

  • Power & Connectivity: Built with integrated 4G LTE cellular modems, an exterior solar panel, and a massive 10,000 mAh automotive-grade rechargeable battery.

  • Active Deterrence Array: The moment an unauthorised person or vehicle is detected, the camera shifts from a silent observer into an active barrier using flashing red-and-blue warning lights alongside loud audible voice alarms.

2. PICOO P3X: Spotlight-Free Colour Night Vision

Traditional colour night cameras often flood residential gardens with harsh white spotlights to render colour. The PICOO P3X introduces WizColour Neo mode, delivering extended full-colour nocturnal imagery without needing a white-light illuminator. Crucially, all AI processing runs on-device—ensuring full privacy, zero cloud dependencies, and zero monthly subscriptions.

3. Hero Dual H3D-3F: Dual Perspectives from a Single Mount

For indoor pet and family monitoring, the Hero Dual H3D-3F integrates two camera systems into a single chassis:

  • A fixed wide-angle lens provides continuous room overview.

  • A motorised pan-and-tilt tracking lens follows movement across the room.

  • Dedicated, independent on-device AI detection channels categorise humans and household pets simultaneously.

WizTalk: Transforming the Video Intercom into a Smart Connected Security Control Center

Video doorbells and entry stations often exist as isolated islands. Under the Dahua WizTalk framework, the front entrance intercom is transformed into a central home connected security automation console.

  • High-Fidelity Optical Door Stations: Select outdoor stations feature 5 MP or dual-camera 5 MP + 2 MP optical modules equipped with full-colour night vision and panoramic vertical viewing lenses to eliminate doorstep blind spots.

  • Indoor Command Panels: Consolidate live camera feeds, motorised PTZ steering, digital zoom, and alarm triggers onto an interactive wall display.

  • Android 14 Flexibility: The flagship SCP series indoor panels run on Android 14, opening the door to compatible third-party smart home applications and allowing the intercom panel to double as a whole-home smart interface.

The AI Brain: AcuPick 2.0, TIOC 2.0, and SMD 4.0

The underlying software engine represents Dahua’s most consequential leap forward, replacing tedious timeline scrolling with actionable, web-style search queries.

AcuPick 2.0: Search Video Recordings Like the Web

Reviewing historic security clips typically requires scrubbing through hours of timelines. AcuPick 2.0 turns local network video recorder (NVR) archives into an indexed, searchable database. Users can search for specific descriptive criteria—such as finding a delivery driver who arrived at a specific entrance after hours—or locate a person across multiple camera feeds with near-instant retrieval.

TIOC 2.0 & SMD 4.0: Active Protection with Fewer False Alarms

  • TIOC (Three-in-One Camera) 2.0: Merges crystal-clear 24/7 full-colour optics with active light-and-sound deterrence to prevent intrusions before property damage occurs.

  • Smart Motion Detection (SMD) 4.0: Utilises refined deep-learning algorithms to differentiate real human and vehicle threats from wandering wildlife (such as foxes), swaying vegetation, moving bin lids, and nighttime headlights, dramatically cutting false alarm fatigue without reducing sensitivity.

  • WizSense & WizMind Tiers: Scales these precision deep-learning engines across market segments—bringing enterprise-grade analytics to small retail shops and residential homes via WizSense, while WizMind addresses critical enterprise infrastructure.

Beyond Surveillance: Wisualarm and Connected Displays

Highlighting the broader scope of Dahua’s AIoT portfolio, the Berlin booth also featured Wisualarm—a professional line of fire, smoke, and hazard detection systems enhanced with AI-assisted early warning algorithms—alongside a multi-environment monitor lineup tailored for residential, office, and gaming environments.

Pros and Cons: Smart Home Tested Summary

What We Liked:

  • True Subscription-Free Edge AI: On-device AI processing on models like the PICOO P3X and local NVR search via AcuPick 2.0 deliver advanced intelligence with zero recurring cloud fees.

  • Searchable Video Archives: AcuPick 2.0 eliminates the frustration of manually scrubbing through hours of recorded timelines.

  • Comprehensive Off-Grid Readiness: The Apollo 4G solar series offers dependable security for rural cabins, outbuildings, and worksites without running power or Wi-Fi cables.

  • Open Intercom Infrastructure: The SCP intercom series running on Android 14 provides a practical bridge between door security and third-party smart home control.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Local-first data processing aligns closely with European privacy standards, including GDPR, the EU AI Act, and the Cyber Resilience Act.

What to Keep in Mind:

  • Ecosystem Specialisation: Advanced cross-camera AI features like AcuPick 2.0 perform best when paired with dedicated Dahua NVRs and compatible ecosystem hardware.

  • Active Deterrence Placement: Flashing red-and-blue strobe lights and audible sirens on outdoor cameras require thoughtful placement in dense suburban neighborhoods to avoid startling adjacent neighbors.

Final Verdict

Dahua’s IFA 2026 presentation highlights a broader shift in consumer and commercial security. By moving away from cloud-locked subscriptions toward local on-device intelligence, transitioning from passive footage collection to active deterrence, and unifying eyes, ears, voice, and brain into an interconnected system, Dahua and WITHS are setting a practical blueprint for the future of connected safety.
